Exploring teaching puppies to target. How to go about it and what the benefits are. Your Presenter – Claire Staines – Head Trainer at Lothlorien Dog Training Centre

Claire Staines is a full member of the Pet Professional Guild British Isles, a former steering committee member of the Pet Professional Guild British Isles, a Victoria Stilwell Professional Dog Trainer and a Mentor & Faculty Advisor for the Victoria Stilwell Academy.

Claire is owned and educated by her love of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. An avid lover of the breed, she has been assisting in rehabilitation cases for Rhoddies who find themselves in a new home setting. She is currently loving learning from her now almost three-year-old RR, Venice, who she shows and works towards goals in the hope to compete in other dog sports.

Claire has been training professionally for over 20 years and is based in the beautiful town of Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland. She is the head trainer at Lothlorien Dog Training centre where she heads up her team of trainers.  

Claire is vastly experienced and knowledgeable in all things dog. She has a great love of the mechanics of training, nailing it down to a fine art and has tremendous skill and ability when it comes to building behaviours.  When working with a client, Claire sees things from a totally different angle to most and goes about working with problems in a creative manner that is fun for the dog and extremely successful for the guardian.  

Claire is a huge believer in empowering the learner and her mantra is “the dog is the expert,” looking at how behaviour works from the dog’s perspective. Not only does she believe in a dog centred approach, she loves to look at how to make this work for the human… Tangible training
