Dogs are social animals and they are uniquely adapted to sharing their lives with people. As social animals, they are capable of learning from other dogs as well as from people. This skill is used in the training technique known as "Do As I Do", but this is only one aspect of social learning and behavior. This webinar will discuss the different types of social learning, summarize the research on social learning in dogs, and explore how to apply this information to training and living with dogs.

Learning Objectives

  • Define social learning and distinguish between the different types of social learning
  • Discuss the evidence for social learning in dogs
  • List the factors that influence social learning in dogs
  • Apply what we know of social learning to working and living with dogs
