The Key Charter
The Pet Professional Guild (PPG) was founded based on a commitment to provide educational resources to pet care providers and the public. This commitment is coupled with an emphasis on building collaboration among science-based and ethical pet trainers, professional pet care providers and advocates to advance mutually agreed upon guiding principles for the pet care industry. PPG partners, members, and affiliates focus on each pet’s physical, emotional, environmental, and nutritional well-being adhering to a holistic approach to the care and training of family pets.
Established at the beginning of 2012, the Pet Professional Guild began with the very simple goal of serving the Pet Industry as an educational antidote to the scientifically unfounded and dangerous methods and practices popularized by entertainment TV.
With information proliferating at an astounding rate, in a world where source credibility is regularly in question, Tudge wanted to establish a platform where professionals could align themselves around positive reinforcement-based methods while educating local governments and the pet-owning community about the fundamental advantages of training methodologies informed by science, guided by empathy, and governed by ethics.
In addition, Tudge felt that the pet-owning public deserved an educational resource that would not only clarify confusion between different training and pet care methodologies but would also build consumer confidence in PPG as an industry authority at the forefront of positive reinforcement, science-based practices.
The Pet Professional Guild quickly built its reputation as the only international pet industry member association, representing a vast array of professionals, that advocates for science-based and ethical pet training and pet care. Operating through a framework of Guiding Principles that espouse the value of science, empathy, and ethics in all relationship-building and decision-making scenarios, PPG members sign on to support an organization whose mission is dedicated to the well-being of pets and their guardians, as well as to shaping the future well-being of the pet industry.
Guiding PPG’s continued growth and direction:
An Independent “Board of Directors” selected based on the company by-laws to meet the criteria of a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit membership organization. Board members are responsible for the fiduciary performance of the organization and provide oversight to the Executive Director.
A “Steering Committee,” managed by the Executive Director, provides support and guidance to operational policies and day-to-day tasks.
“Working Volunteer Groups” aligned with specific approved objectives, within each committee, to develop and take action steps toward achieving strategic goals.
“Task Force Groups” assigned to individual projects that need industry research and a feasibility study prior to allocating organizational resources.
“Special Council,” composed of notable industry leaders who are supportive of PPGs mission and provide advice when consulted on specific industry issues.
The Pet Professional Guild is a 501(c)(6) Nonprofit.
As a 501(c)(6) we cannot solicit donations, therefore this form is provided to organizations who make a formal request and have a specific purpose for donating funds to PPG. This form is not available on the public domain of the PPG website.
501(c)(6) nonprofit associations help small businesses advance their industry or geographic area. These organizations differ from 501(c)(3) charities, which must advance a charitable purpose such as religion, education, or public assistance. To qualify for tax exemption under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(6), all of a nonprofit’s earnings must be reinvested into the organization and may not benefit any individual member or shareholder.
