Why Become Credentialed?

  • Stand up for what you believe in!
  • Hold a credential that not only requires knowledge and skill assessment but also a set of ethics and guiding principles.
  • PPAB offers the only Accredited Training Technician and Professional Canine Trainer certification for professionals who believe there is no place for shock, choke, prong, fear or intimidation in canine training and behavior practices.
  • PPAB also offers the only psychometrically developed examination for Training & Behavior Consultants who also support these humane and scientific practices.

There are Three levels of accreditation.

  1. Canine Training Technician  - Canine Training Technicians complete an online examination and submit skill videos.
  2. Professional Canine Trainer  - Professional Canine Trainers also complete an online examination and submit skill videos
  3. Professional Canine Behavior Consultant - Canine Behavior Consultants complete an online proctored exam, submit skill videos for assessment and also complete and submit individual case studies.

The Pet Professional Accreditation Board (PPAB) is operated by the Pet Professional Guild, the international organization for humane, scientific animal training and behavior consultants. You do not have to be a PPG  member to apply  and become credentialed through PPAB.  You do however have to meet and maintain the  eligibility criteria.  The Pet Professional Accreditation Program is independent of any industry school, trade school, college or credentialing body.

Transfer Your Existing Credential to PPAB

Many of you have an existing and recognized credential in the Pet Industry though an independent third party. It  was probably achieved prior to the development and launch of PPG and then its credentialing arm  The Pet Professional Accreditation Board.   You probably spent many hours studying for your examination and preparing and submitting your skill videos and case studies.

Let's not also  forget the expense you had to budget to apply and complete the credential as well as the reoccurring fees to maintain it.

Well now you can transfer this credential into PPAB at a minimal cost and with minimal work! Learn more here
